That’s fine. She knows how to play the games and normally better than the people who start them. Her coven of those tossed from the enchanter community always has a list of enemies, but when there’s a ghoul on the loose in Indianapolis, that’s way too close for people not to be upset. However, there seems to be a silver lining to the bad news when Soraya meets a sexy vampire working the case who is all about working closely during the case in any way she wants. However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what’s on Soraya’s plate, leaving too much for her to juggle at once. Most of it’s good—like the possible expansion and new factory—but she is only one person. But when the people who care about her call in help, they might have added more than she can handle instead of helping.

Worried for her coven after the beating they took as well, she resurfaces to handle a situation with some Russian hawks, piles of everything from the companies, ending her ties with the ancient nest, and taking a shot back at the enchanter elders… And that was just in one night. But when the ripples of her erasing a greater demon reach further than she could have guessed, she faces jumping into the next rabbit hole or a worse option coming to her door later. She does what she thinks is best for those she cares about, but when you’re a thousand years old, traversing new waters is terrifying for even the Enchantress. After surviving the roller coaster of events lately along with the pressure of angels asking her to save the world, Soraya Devil has decided to use the upcoming tribunal as a chance to cut loose, as she’s in desperate need for some spring break type fun. Meaning she plans to drink too much, make some bad decisions, and have lots of sex… Even for her. A lot goes into swinging such an event, and she adds her normal flair to it all while still being annoyed with the investigation of a human murderer trying to frame supes for the kills. With this new wave of anti-supe sentiment, she and the coven are nervous that Chicago is becoming a place they don’t recognize. But trouble of a dangerous sort decides to rear its ugly head at the worst time possible and risk the life of someone she cherishes. It explains her recent feelings of doom and gloom, though the question still remains—will she be enough to stop what’s coming?
Too many now know she’s Soraya Warloc, only heir to the high elder, and now de facto leader of the enchanters. The list of people who want more than she’s willing to give is increasing, and she starts to tune it and everyone out. It’s overwhelming to constantly hear she’s not doing enough while no one is offering to step up and help. And with Beltane right around the corner, her schedule’s already packed with what her coven needs. A dark spirit shows up in Chicago and is hunting a specific prey. Soraya is called in, and not only is she upset that there will be a lot more dead with the evil that was summoned, but something is wrong with Detective Hunt. Unfortunately, Soraya has more on her plate than worrying over one person and lacking in the relationship experience to know what to do. But when she’s pulled in every direction and feels like she’s going to break, will the right person step up to help her or let everyone bury her in demands?
The scales are tipping in the wrong direction in the fight between good and evil. The veil thinning has allowed something to happen that Soraya Devil has never seen in her thousand years alive. While the side of “good” is worrying about the rules and being petty, the demons are testing limits and cheating the laws of nature… And of course everyone expects her to handle it like she’s a superhero instead of one overworked woman. As well as ramp up her farms and production to help the income and jobs for supes across the world. Plus, deal with the enchanter heirs and too much crap there. Along with handle the growing issues facing all supes in the UK. Needless to say, she’s at the end of her patience before she gets pulled into a new case that leaves her stumped for answers. What she does know she can’t fully reveal to the humans, and that makes too much explode fast. But when two viable options offer her help and to take more off her plate, she finds herself asking what will it cost her, and is she willing to pay the price?
Too many people are joining the side of evil that it’s getting more difficult to protect her coven and the people she cares about. And Soraya Devil is tired of it. Along with too many saying they’re on the side of “right” behaving almost as badly as the demons. When she’s attacked in a way she’s never been before, even those trying to sound the alarm bells don’t know who they can turn to because the friends of the coven aren’t all that trustworthy. So like always, Soraya has to handle too much on her own. But no more. It’s time to draw the battle lines for war and do things better before they lose against evil and the veil falls. Especially after she has another case that leaves her baffled. Living over a thousand years gives her a lot of experience but when the rules keep changing, she’s frustrated she can’t find the answers. But even when some people start changing their tunes and getting on her side of the fight, she can’t help but wonder if it will last or if she’s just doomed her people to more pain?
The ripples of the attack against Soraya Devil keep growing, and after finding the powerful enchanters of her coven were affected and had to be cleansed, she’s at her limit. While the main culprits have been caught and interrogated, the secrets to that magic still elude her, and that means a threat against the people she loves and protects.
And Soraya isn’t going to let that stand.
To fix the problems with the angels, the veil, and smack the demons back over the lines they keep crossing, she needs to recover first… But not physically. She’s done that.
Emotionally and mentally, she’s taken a huge hit with someone breaking through her vast protections and getting to her. She sees that even as someone emotionally stunted and oblivious most days. The problem is what the hell does she do about it while still being the shield all enchanters, supes, and the world needs?
She doesn’t have a clue, but an old fling she meets at the most random of places at a time she feels like she’s breaking might have the answer she needs.
